Our Cause

Our mission is to raise funds and awareness to provide financial and emotional support to the kids battling illness in the hematology and oncology department of Akron Children’s Hospital. We annually host an 8-hour Dance Marathon in the spring in culmination of our year-long fundraising. Each year, the students from the university and the kids from the hospital unite for a day of dancing, games, and miracles. In just eleven years, we have raised over $300,000 for the kids. This generation will continue to fight for the next.

Our Beneficiary

The Shower's Family Medical Center at Akron Children's Hospital is one of the best in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report. We want to do our part by supporting the average of 8 children diagnosed with cancer each month by Akron Children's Hospital. None of these children have to fight alone and the students of Kent State University are uniting with them to fight this horrible disease.

The Big Picture

Akron Children's Hospital, our beneficiary, is just one of the 170 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, while KSU Flashathon is just one of the 300 Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathons raising funds for their local hospital. Every second, a child enters a Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Whether they suffer from common childhood afflictions like asthma and broken bones, or fight bigger challenges like birth defects or cancer, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provide comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick kids. All of the fundraising that KSU Flashathon does is going towards a bigger goal of putting the money where the miracles are.
